Office of Senator Edward J. Markey (D-Mass) – Spring 2024 Internship Program

Senator Markey’s office would like to build and foster a relationship with you so that we can potentially identify and hire interns for our Fall, Spring, and Summer programs in both our D.C. or Boston offices. Our office is committed to hiring interns who represent Senator Markey’s constituents, including candidates from BIPOC, LGBTQ+, working class, and/or other underrepresented communities. Massachusetts or New England ties are preferred.

The Spring 2024 internship program welcomes undergraduate students from all majors, including social sciences, STEM, communications and the arts, to intern as legislative or communications/digital interns. Interns have the option to work in policy areas such as, but not limited to, environment and energy, judiciary and justice, commerce, foreign policy, health and education, as well as work with the communications and press team. Stipends are available to students who could not otherwise afford to live or work in Washington, D.C. or Boston at the pre-tax rate of $15 an hour.

Applications are due for the WashingtonD.C. office by Sunday, October 29 at 11:59PM EST. HERE is the link to the Washington DC internship application.

Applications are due for the Boston office by Monday, November 6 at 11:59PM EST. Please submit the Boston internship application to [email protected].

Majors / Focus: Backgrounds in political science, international relations, environmental studies, communications, journalism, graphic design, media studies, and history are desirable but not required
Expenses Paid: Stipends are available to students who could not otherwise afford to to live or work in Washington, D.C. or Boston at the pre-tax rate of $15 an hour.
Location: Positions available at the Washington D.C. office and Boston office
Program Dates: January 16, 2024 to May 3, 2024
Other Materials Needed: For D.C. Position only: a writing sample (700 words max) and a sample of work (digital media, photography, video, etc.)
Requirements: Resume; a summary of why you are interested in the internship program (500 words max.); a statement of financial need (if applicable)
