sheLEADS: Women in Leadership Virtual Session

Are you interested in learning about leadership? sheLEADS: Women in Leadership is a series organized by Career Design comprised of sessions specifically focused on individuals who identify as female and who have secured leadership roles within a variety of career fields.

Each session features a guest speaker or speakers from a specific industry or career field who will discuss their career path(s), how they were able to overcome obstacles to rise in the ranks, and provide suggestions and advice to those who are interested in taking on leadership roles. There will be a dedicated portion of this session to student Q & A.

  • This session is focused on Tech, and you will hear from our guest speaker, Lori Rodriguez, Chief Digital Advisor, Global & US Chapter President of WOMEN IN TECH – Global Movement, an international non-profit organization. Headquartered in Paris, this global movement is powered by 200,000+ people in 45 chapters on six continents. The organization promotes girls’ and women’s empowerment around the world, with a focus on education, business, digital inclusion and advocacy, and a mission to close the gender gap. Ms. Rodriguez advocates for women’s advancement in STEM fields.
  • Lori’s latest passion is sharing the whole-life journeys of 12 amazing women leaders in her bestselling book Hidden Lives of Women in STEM. Through their successes and their scars, these living role models have profound lessons to share.
  • If you are interested in leadership, attend this session to learn about strategies to be successful in taking on leadership roles.

sheLEADS: Women In STEM Husky Trek to VELYS Robotics

Are you a student who identifies as female and interested in exploring what you can do in a career, both related to and even beyond your major? Do you want to see how your major can lead to a satisfying and successful career within an organization of interest? Take advantage of the Husky Treks Program and engage in this opportunity, where you will learn about an organization to explore your possible career path! If you are a STEM undergraduate or graduate student who identifies as female, join us as we take a peek inside VELYS Robotics (in-person), affiliated with DuPuy Synthes, the Orthopedics Company of Johnson & Johnson (J & J) to learn more about the work within the organization.  During this Trek, there will be a panel discussion of female-identifying J & J staff, a robotics demonstration, and time set aside for networking! Husky Treks are not hiring events; instead, this is an opportunity to network and explore different career paths.

Applications for this Trek are open from Wednesday, September 6th until Sunday, September 17th, at 12:00 AM. Apply HERE to be considered for this Trek. By applying, you are not guaranteed a spot. Applicants will be advised if they have been accepted during the week of September 21st.

To attend this Husky Trek, you must first attend a mandatory virtual Husky Trek Orientation on Thursday, October 5th from 6:00 – 6:30PM via Zoom. A zoom link will be shared with you if selected for this opportunity. The details of the Trek will only be sent to you after you attend the Orientation.
